Job Description Summary

This position is responsible for directing the operations and services of the counseling program and providing direct counseling services to individuals, couples, and groups

Essential Duties

Provides counseling services (40%)
• Provides counseling services to individuals, couples, and groups.
• Provides confidential consulting support to staff, faculty, and administrators.
• Provides crisis counseling as needed.

Manages counseling services and operations (55%)
• Coordinates counseling communications and operations, including work load and flow.
• Organizes and conducts meetings.
• Coordinates and oversees implementation of campus outreach activities.
• Develops and implements counseling policies and procedures in collaboration with counseling staff members and the Director of Student Health Services.
• Develops and maintains campus and community partnerships.
• Ensures compliance with laws, ethical rules, and regulations.
• Provides clinical supervision and training to unlicensed and associate-level licensed staff.
• Assists in the evaluation of counseling services.
• Provides guidance and consultation to counseling staff.

Performs a variety of related duties (5%)
• Serves as department liaison to the CARE team.
• Serves on a variety of college committees.
• Provides support to other USG institutions through Crisis Support Network

• Knowledge of college policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
• Knowledge of University System of Georgia policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of health and wellness programs and services.
• Knowledge of counseling theory, techniques, approaches, and best practices.
• Knowledge of mental health issues.
• Knowledge of personnel management principles.
• Skill in decision making and problem solving.
• Skill in supervising the work of personnel.
• Skill in the completion of a variety of reports.
• Skill in oral and written communication

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field required.
• More than four years of related experienced required.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain respective state licensure as a mental health professional

Preferred Qualifications

• Three years or more experience within a college or university counseling center setting.
• Administrative experience in directing or supervising counseling services.
• Experience in providing counseling services for sexual trauma and/or multicultural issues.
• Experience in providing clinical supervision.
• Experience in Titanium Schedule Software

Physical Demands

• The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table. The employee occasionally lifts light objects.
• The work is typically performed in an office
